MUSICIANS are getting together to help Furness’ feathered friends this winter and a
A live gig is being staged in Barrow to raise money to buy food for the rescued birds and other wildlife cared for by Pat Denny at the voluntary animal refuge in her garden at Cliffe Lane, Hawcoat.
They cost about £100 a week to feed.
The fundraising gig, Feed the Birds, has been organised by Gillian Nicholson, from Barrow, who put together the successful music concert for the Jubilee Bridge centenary celebrations.
She said:“We want raise money so Pat does not have to worry about feeding the birds over winter.”Miss Denny, 65, said: “It’s marvellous. I am overwhelmed by this. I’m very grateful.
“I do enjoy looking after the birds but it is a struggle.”
Bands Elite and Dropping Point, and singer/songwriter Gwen Hechle, will perform at the gig at the King’s Arms, Dalton Road, Barrow, at 7.30pm on Saturday, December 13.

A raffle prize is two tickets to see Miles Hunt and Erica Nockalls, of the Wonder Stuff, perform at Barrow Island’s Canteen on December 20.
Entry is free but donations will be appreciated.
